  1. What is Verified by Visa?
    Verified by Visa is a new service that will let you use a personal password with your Visa Card, giving you added assurance that only you can use your Visa Card to make purchases over the Internet.
    • Turn on your computer, connect to the Internet and get out your Visa Card — you don’t need any special software.
    • Use Verified by Visa as easily as you use your PIN at an ATM.
  2. How does Verified by Visa work?
    Verified by Visa provides you with a password to protect your online transactions, just like you use your PIN at an ATM. Here are the steps:
    1. Select the goods or services you want from a Verified by Visa online store and proceed to the payment page.
    2. Enter your Visa Card number and the online store connects with Heritage to check whether your Card is secured with Verified by Visa.
    3. Heritage initiates a Verified by Visa pop-up window on your computer screen that includes your Personal Assurance Message.
    4. Look for and confirm your Personal Assurance Message, then enter your password. Your identity will then be confirmed to the merchant.
    5. Your payment is authorized and your order is placed. It’s that simple!
  3. Can I register with my existing Visa Card or do I need to apply for a new one?
    You can register any Heritage Visa card to be protected by Verified by Visa.
  4. Can I register more than one Visa Card?
    Yes, you can register all of your Heritage Visa cards.
  5. How do I register my Visa Card?
    You need to register for the service by logging into Heritage on-line internet banking and clicking on the Verified by Visa registration link.
  6. My spouse and I both have the same visa account. How does Verified by Visa work for the two of us?
    Verified by Visa still works for both of you. You’ll each register and create your own password. Please note that once a Visa account is registered with Verified by Visa, all cardholders will need to register and create their own passwords to shop at participating online stores.
  7. Can I register my non-Visa payment cards with Verified by Visa?
    Currently, Verified by Visa is only offered to protect Visa cards, however we expect other card brands to offer the service in the future.
  8. After I register, how long does it take for Verified by Visa to become active in my card?
    Depending on when you register, it may take until the next businss day for registration to be activated on the Visa system. Once register, you may begin shopping at participating stores by selecting the list of participating online stores featured on your local Visa website or on www.visa-asia.com/verified.
  9. Once I have registered, how do I use Verified by Visa when I shop online?
    Once you have registered, you will be able to use Verified by Visa service right away on participating merchant sites. For a full listingof these merchants, please visit your local Visa website or www.visa-asia.com/verified. You will also find the Verified by Visa online shopping demo at these websites.
  10. Do I need any special equipment or software on my computer?
    All you need is an Internet connection and Internet Explorer, Netscape or AOL browser software version 4.0 or above. To find out if your browser is compatible, go to the “Help” menu in the upper right of your browser and select the “About” option. It should tell you what version is installed on your computer.
  11. Can I use Verified by Visa from any computer?
    You can use Verified by Visa at any PC that has an Internet connection and Internet Explorer, Netscape or AOL browser software version 4.0 or above.
  12. What is a Personal Assurance Message?
    When you register for Verified by Visa, you may be asked to create a Personal Assurance Message. When you pay online, always look for this Personal Assurance Message to ensure that it is Heritage that is authenticating you.
  13. Where can I shop with Verified by Visa?
    Look for the Verified by Visa mark on participating online stores or check our list of current participants on your local Visa website and on www.visa-asia.com/verified.
  14. How will the online store know that I have Verified by Visa?
    Participating online stores will automatically recognize your Visa card number if you have registered it for Verified by Visa.
  15. If I suspect someone has stolen my password or used it to make fraudulent purchases, what should I do?
    Contact Heritage immediately.
  16. Can I get the benefit of Verified by Visa security at online stores that are not participating in the service?
    No. However most online stores will have the service available to them by end 2003. In the meantime, if an online store you trust is not yet participating, use common sense and follow safe shopping tips.
